Are you wishing to study Medical in Nagaland ? Though two institutions offer higher study courses. So far as Medical is concerned,Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S) is not offered by any institution.The National Institute of Technology in Dimapur offers Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (B.S.M.S) and The Global Open University offers Post Graduate Diploma in Medicine. The aspirants of M.B.B.S would have to go to other state for the course. The two courses and offering institutions are mentioned in this article. Nagaland is also one of the disturbed states of North-East India. The state’s eastern border lies beside Burma (now Myanmar), the western border touches Assam, the northern to Arunachal Pradesh and the southern border touches Manipur. The state capital is Kohima whereas the largest city is Dimapur. The Naga inhabitants lead conservative life to large extent. Instead of being logical, most of them are sticked with taboo. They follow the taboo as the order of the God.The 17 tribes are dwelling in the state. However, each tribe is unique in character with its distinct customs, language and wearing.Language and religion are common to all and English is in predominant use. Significantly, it is one the three Indian states where the population is mostly Christians.
As known, it emerged as the 16th Indian state in December, 1963.Agriculture is the main activity for economy in Nagaland. The principal crops are rice, pulses, tobacco, corn, millets, fibres, potatoes, oilseeds and sugarcane. Moreover, forestry, real estate, tourism, insurance and cottage industries are also among the significant revenue generating sources. Due to repeated violence of inter-ethnic conflicts, the state was completely in the plight of anarchy.The Nagas’ rebel activities continued.Despite announcements of cease-fires and negotiations, the unrest prolonged.
Saying about Nagaland, it won’t be fair to avoid the agony of the state.Firstly being situated at national border, it incessantly suffers the cross border terrorism.Whilst the state is suffering the dire consequences of the inter-ethnic conflict since 1950.Hence the violence and insecurity have blocked the development of Nagaland.
However, some anthropologists’ view is that the Nagas belong to the Mongolian race and the tribes migrated at different times. The Nagas were well known for their bravery.In this regard, the British colonialists too were much worried for the Nagas’ incessant raids. Though the fierce battle took place between the British and the Nagas and many people died from both sides. Ultimately the Britons had to adopt accord of peace with them. In this course, the Nagas cooperated British in the Second World War.When Japan invaded India, the Nagas fought bravely along with the British troops and chased the Japanese troop. Kohima War Cemetery was constructed in memory of the soldiers and Nagas died in the Second World War. However, during former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s tenure the Presidents Rule was imposed.In November 1975, the largest rebellion groups’ leaders agreed to accept the Constitution of India and lay down their arms.

02. THE GLOBAL OPEN UNIVERSITY-[TGOU],Dimapur
TGOU offers 1-year Post Graduate Diploma correspondence course in Clinical Research, Health,Safety & Environment and Nutrition Healing. The yearly fees for the courses is Rs.9,335.
